CynthiaRose (Portalatin) has been writing since the age of seven when her maternal grandmother gifted her with her first diary. She began penning poems, cartoons, and short stories in her late teens. A native New Yorker, she has lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North & South Carolina, Virginia, Louisiana, Puerto Rico, and Florida.
About her blog, she says, "Here you will find my thoughts, ramblings, and inspirations... So many people have told me to blog, not knowing I had already done it way back in the early 2000's... just never went fully public with it. So here goes everything... Enjoy!"
Cynthia holds Bachelor Degrees in Journalism and Honors Spanish from Southern A&M University. She has written for weekly and daily newspapers as well as several federal publications. After a 20-year career in Public Relations and Outreach & Advocacy with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Cynthia chose to pursue her dream of publishing her own creative works. In February 2013, she published "Bloom Forever - A Poetry Journal," (Amani Publishing). It debuted at No. Six in Urban Books Authors & Writers of America's (UBAWA) TOP 100 BOOKS OF 2013. The collection of heartfelt poems spans more than 25 years of her life.
She frequently shares her work at local poetry readings in her hometown of Tallahassee, Florida and has participated in panel discussions and literary festivals in Atlanta, north Georgia, Orlando, and Tennessee - including UBAWA; Black Writers and Book Clubs (BWABC) Annual Literary Festival.
Cynthia has published under the last names of Lamb and Portalatin and contributed poetry to books written by Tremayne Moore (www.maynetre.com) as well as published poetry and a short story in the anthology, "Truth Awaits You on the Other Side: An Anthology about the Consequences of Sin" (December). She freelances as a writer and copy editor and loves to sing and create art.
Her most recent, fun project has been co-writing and co-producing a web series titled "Tallahassee Legal," a Poemedy creation of Summer Hill Seven.
