An ex-boyfriend once called me Bougie, because I shopped at the "Fresh Market" to get sweet-potato pancake mix. I laughed and thought what a stupid assumption based on one store... I shop at Sedano's, Publix, Aldi, the local Farmers Market, Walmart, boutiques, garage sales, thrift stores, the mall... basically, I shop where I can find what I need. And since the older I get, the less I need... if I Really Want and Crave sweet-potato pancake mix, and I know I can find it less than two miles from my home, that's where I will go regardless of the name of the store.
Can I get it at Walmart for less? - Sure, but if have to drive twice the distance, stand in a line four times as long, and walk through a giant warehouse of a store... that does not equal savings to me, nor an enjoyable experience, nor productive use of my time. If making the most of my time and liking the experience equals being Bougie, oh well, call me Bougie. I will still love you, and I will still love me. I like some of Tyler Perry's movies, but I don't like all of them... I admit I sometimes would rather watch a foreign film, even with subtitles, because the acting, music, and scenery are so much better than a lot of American films. I even listen to music in languages I don't understand. It's called "embracing other cultures" and "expanding my mind." (Smile). |
